Chuck Oese L.Ac., C.SMA

Founder and Clinical Director- Chuck Oese, L.Ac., C.SMA, is a Sports Medicine Acupuncturist®, Foundation Training Instructor and nutritional consultant specializing in the treatment of pain, sciatica, chronic back injuries and the emotional aspects resulting from those conditions. He started Mountain Sun Acupuncture in 2015.

I began studying at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2011 and graduated with a Masters of Acupuncture. Additionally, after graduating I completed an intense Sports Medicine Acupuncture® program in Chicago which took one year to become certified.

I moved to Colorado from New Jersey in 1996 after graduating from an undergraduate degree at The University of Delaware. I found myself in Breckenridge to ski and soon began a 20 year career as a Firefighter/EMT.   As the son of a Police Officer and Nurse, it was natural for me to go into civil service and fulfill my dream of helping others. At the fire department I promoted to the position of Engine Company Captain.

As a firefighter I struggled with constant back injuries and it seemed like I was always “tweaking” my back. It would take a few weeks to feel normal again and then doing something as easy as stepping off the fire engine would cause my back to flare up. I tried acupuncture for the first time after one of these many back injuries. What normally would take me 3-4 weeks to feel better was better the next day. I was amazed at how well I felt and slept the night of that treatment. It also seemed like I was more relaxed and less stressed.

Being a naturally curious person, I began reading books about acupuncture and decided to take the introduction class at the local acupuncture college. One class led to another and before I knew it I had a Masters in Acupuncture.

While in school I came across a program called Foundation Training. This movement practice was geared towards helping people with current injuries get out of pain and is also used to prevent injuries. After practicing this for over a year I decided that it was the perfect companion to my acupuncture practice. I went to Santa Barbara, CA. and studied with the creators to become certified to teach and use the exercises for my patients. My patients are all given these exercises as homework to our treatments and many have had great successes.

My mission and purpose is to bring relief to my patients suffering with chronic pain, sciatica, back pain and the emotional aspect that often results with these conditions.

I will always look at you as an individual and my goal is to help everyone who chooses to work with me reconnect with their lives of little or no pain and regain their inner peace.

Growing up I was always a competitive athlete and played ice hockey through college at The University of Delaware. After college, to satisfy that competitive nature I began running and trained for marathons. Recently I began competing in triathlons and have completed two 70.3 Ironman races and look forward to competing in a full distance Ironman in the next couple of years.

In my free time I can be found spending time with my wife and two kids, volunteering with the Rotary Club of Littleton, biking or running with an occasional appearance on the ice for a rusty game of hockey.
